Item #: SCP-333

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures:

NOTICE: No persons with Level 4 clearance or higher are allowed within 100 meters of SCP-333 or its holding cell at any time. All personal are to disregard any order given from any person with Level 4 clearance which would violate the above statement. Additionally, any person with knowledge of [DATA EXPUNGED] is subject to the above restrictions.

SCP-333 should be contained at all times in a Level 9 Isolation Cell. The interior of the cell should have ████ luminosity sensors spaced evenly at 1 foot intervals. The readout of these sensors should be monitored at all times for any variation. If anomalies are detected, a Class █ lockdown is to be initiated. Similarly , a GPS tracking beacon and [DATA EXPUNGED] should be connected to SCP-333 and monitored for any movement on its part, with a Class █ lockdown to be engaged should any movment be detected. In either case, unmanned drones will then be sent into SCP-333’s holding chamber to assess the situation. Drones must not possess any video sensors, including above and below the visual spectrum, nor photographic equipment of any kind. Instead, Sonar should be used in place of visual guidance. Additionally, a GPS tracking chip with accuracy to within 1ft should be affixed to SCP-333.

The entrance to SCP-333 should contain a triple set of S-█ grade blast doors, each separated by 10 meters, and outfitted with luminosity sensors in the same manner as the holding chamber. Each of the first two doors are to be configured such that they are incapable of being opened in the event that any level of light is detected on the interior. The exterior door should be guarded at all times by no less than two armed security officers. The guards, and any person who has any chance of being exposed to SCP-333, should be fully contained in Blackout grade containment suits. All Gear should be fully inspected twice per week for any breakdown.

SCP-333 is never to be filmed, photographed or viewed in any manner. Any person believed to have been exposed to SCP-333 is to be immediately isolated. Individuals who have been exposed are to be prevented from visual contact with any person of Level 4 clearance. deadly force is authorized to ensure this does not happen.

Description: SCP-333 appears as a glass chandelier, measuring 1 meter in diameter and approximately 1 meter in height. It is illuminated by 16 light bulbs which remain perpetually illuminated without need of an external power source. It remains affixed to the ceiling by a 2 meter long brass chain. The overall light produced by the chandelier is measured to be an average of ██ lumens with a standard deviation of █ lumens. While it remains immobile, SCP-333 has shown to possess the ability to relocate itself an as of yet unidentified distance. Such movment happens instantaneously and [DATA EXPUNGED] is likely the means by which this takes place.

Individuals exposed to SCP-333’s light are subject to a marked and progressive decrease in cognitive abilities. Removing the individual from the light does not halt the process, though it has shown to decrease the speed at which the subject’s neural activity lowers. Detailed scans of individuals who undergo this effect show that the source of impaired intelligence is a draining taking place in the neural electric field. With maintained exposure, death can occur within 24 hours. Removing the subject from SCP-333’s light increases the subjects life expectancy to 48-72 hours. Additionally, any direct visual recording of SCP-333 possesses the same effect on individuals that direct exposure causes. This has remained consistent in all tested media, including film and photography, both within an outside of the visible spectrum. Test ██ and Test ██ indicates that artistic representations of SCP-333 still retain the same properties of SCP-333, provided the person depicting them has actually observed SCP-333 directly.

Detailed observation of persons exposed has revealed that the subjects intelligence decreases in a predictable manner, from higher order thought, to basic survival functions, though the actual rate at which this takes place varies greatly, and no set pattern has yet been observed.

Furthermore, SCP-333 has displayed several unexplained effects which are currently being studied. When attempting to take a sample of SCP-333 via remote operated drone, all sensory equipment within the chamber registered that SCP-333 was no longer present. SCP-333 was found [DATA EXPUNGED]. This behavior indicates that it may possess a survival instinct, as well as some means of observing its environment, as such behavior has only been observed when attempts to damage or alter SCP-333 in any way. It remains nonreactive to other stimuli, including being handled by SCP agents during its capture.

During testing, Subject D-███-█-██, Hispanic male age 34, displayed an unexpected reaction. In the █ hour after exposure, he became suddenly confused. The subject began conversing with himself. Observation noted that he seemed to be imitating several distinct individuals. After asking repeatedly where he was, the subject responded to his own question, and proceeded to show a detailed knowledge of his location within Site ██ and its layout. Subject D-███-█-██ had never accessed nor seen many of the locations that he described. Following this, less than 2% of individuals exposed have had similar reactions, displaying knowledge that they should not possess. The only conclusion is that they are receiving information from SCP-333. How SCP-333 acquired this information is unknown. Dr. ██████ has suggested that SCP-333 may retain some or all of the information that is drained from those exposed to its light.
Addendum:

Until the exact nature of SCP-333 is understood, all testing on it is prohibited without the approval of Five O5-█ individuals. Current preparations are underway to move SCP-333 to a dedicated location currently being constructed at [DATA EXPUNGED]

Testing Record:
Test ██
Subject: NA
Procedure: Class B remote sampling drone sent to acquire material sample of SCP-333
Results: Upon Making contact with the SCP, drone operator begins sampling process. Luminosity sensors report total blackout of the chamber. Drone sonar indicates SCP-333 is no longer present. SCP-333 later found at [DATA EXPUNGED].

Test ██
Subject: NA
Procedure: Class B remote sampling drone sent to acquire material sample of SCP-333 after affixing a GPS marker to the surface of SCP-333.
Results: Immediately upon the drone entering the chamber, all monitoring equipment reported SCP-333 was not present in the chamber. GPS scans failed to locate SCP-333 for a period of ██ hours. SCP-333 retrieved from ████████, Poland.
Notes: Recommending a hold on any attempts to sample SCP-333 until its means of locomotion can be negated. Test indicates SCP-333 can likely observe its surrounding environment, and recognized the drone as a threat.

Test ██
Subject: Class D Dutch-Irish Male, Age 26. High school level education.
Procedure: Class D will be placed within SCP-333’s light and observed via radio communication.
