Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is to be held in a restricted-access storage unit. Personnel are permitted free access to SCP-XXXX-1's containment unit provided no liquids are introduced into its interior.
Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an antique, white-enameled, claw-footed bathtub, showing significant corrosion and damage consistent with heavy wear and lack of maintenance. No anomalous properties are manifest when the bathtub is empty, it may be safely moved or entered without incident. When filled to capacity, SCP-XXXX-1 holds 250.5 liters of liquid. No anomalous properties are manifest when the bathtub is filled with water alone.
SCP-XXXX-1 exhibits anomalous properties only when filled with greater than ~170 liters of water, then is occupied by exactly one living human being. Multiple occupants, inhuman occupants, or deceased occupants fail to trigger SCP-XXXX-1's active state.
When a suitable subject enters SCP-XXXX-1, no anomalous effects are observed for the first ~40 minutes following immersion. After no fewer than 40, but no more than 50 minutes have passed, the bottom interior surface of SCP-XXXX-1 will spontaneously disintegrate. The exterior surface of the bathtub remains uncompromised, and outside observation reveals no anomalies. The subject ensconced in SCP-XXXX-1, however, will fall through the dematerialized bottom of the bathtub and emerge in a frigid, lightless, deep-sea environment. Testing with SCUBA-equipped personnel and GPS locator units has successfully pinpointed the co-ordinates of this location; ██████████, roughly eight kilometers west of [REDACTED], hereafter designated Site XXXX. Foundation Ship FFS-332 "Anglerfish" has been stationed in the waters above Site XXXX for the purposes of receiving signals from cameras, microphones, and other research devices transported through SCP-XXXX-1.
After subjects have passed through the aperture, the bottom interior surface of SCP-XXXX-1 immediately rematerializes. This prevents subjects from returning to the interior of SCP-XXXX-1 by simply "swimming up." Trials with tethers ranging from elastic cord to high-tensile steel braid have universally resulted in a clean severing of the tether and a loss of tethered personnel.
SCP-XXXX-2 manifests once subjects have been transported to the Site XXXX. SCP-XXXX-2 is an immense marine organism of unknown species and classification. SCP-XXXX-2 will appear on-site only seconds after subjects are transported, and quickly consume them. Tests with non-SCUBA-equipped D-Class personal supplied with vitals monitoring devices indicate that SCP-XXXX-2 finds, attacks, and devours its prey before they are able to expire by asphyxiation or from the effects of extreme pressure. It is not presently known if SCP-XXXX-2 exists outside these few moments, if it is connected directly with the effects of SCP-XXXX-1, or if its presence in the area is natural and co-incidental.
