Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: At any time, at least five (5) and no more than twenty (20) specimens of SCP-1097 are to be kept and monitored in specially designed vivariums. Since members of the species rarely display aggressiveness towards each other, nor reproduce if isolated from human subjects, they can be kept together; however, at any one time, there must be more than one location housing SCP-1097 in case of major containment breach or compromise. Currently, SCP-1097 is contained in Site-██, ██, and ███. Any areas suspected of being wild SCP-1097 habitats should be investigated, and uncontained infestations are to be exterminated.

A daily feed consisting of meat with a mass of 20kg per specimen should be provided daily by D-Class personnel. In the event that any specimens begin to display restlessness or move about their containment cell in an exaggerated manner, all assigned personnel are to be alerted, and instructed not to enter until a male D-Class has been provided for assimilation. Should a female individual accidentally be exposed, the offending specimen must be removed, euthanized and replaced. In both cases, the resulting waste matter should be disposed of via incineration.

If the contained population should need to be increased, specimens are to be sequestered, inflicted with non-fatal injuries, exposed to one female D-Class, then terminated. The remains of the D-Class and original specimen can be incinerated normally, however the released soft tissue should be cultured in a suitable environment at room-temperature until hatching. Larvae should be relocated to a sand based enclosure and provided daily with a quantity of small mammals (since the dietary needs of larva change over time, the exact number and size are left to the judgement of assigned staff). After eclosion, the imago can be transferred to the primary vivarium.

Research into SCP-1097 is ongoing, and the assigned research staff are to be deferred to on matters concerning the species unless over-ruled by Level 5 personnel.

Description: SCP-1097 (often referred to among assigned research staff by its given scientific name, Vella anthropos) is an atypical species of holometabolous insect. It is currently considered to belong to the order Neuroptera, although SCP-1097’s abnormal size, distinct behavioural patterns following the larval stage and unusual form make this classification tentative.

The eggs (Avg. 1.7kg) and larvae (Avg. 5.4kg, 54cm in length, 22cm in height) of SCP-1097 have appearances typical of Myrmeleontidae. After hatching, the individual larvae will attempt to find a large, undisturbed body of sand¹ and construct a pit trap, which will then be used for the purpose of ambush predation as would be expected in normal antlion larvae. The only notable attribute of this process is a tendency of larvae to prey on small mammals as opposed to the usual arthropod species, and as such, the larval stage is not a research priority.

After consuming a sufficient amount of food, larvae will form a cocoon and pupate. Little to no activity is displayed during this process, and it progresses as would be expected for several months; however, SCP-1097’s development will begin to deviate from normalcy once it encloses and enters its imago stage (Avg. 57kg, 1.8m in length, 1.1m wingspan). Notably, the neural matter of SCP-1097 imago, while still connected to its ventral nerve cord, is contained in an epicranial sac.

Special Containment Procedures: Multiple SCP-1148 nymphs are contained in Site-██, ███ and ███. An overall maximum of one-hundred (100) specimens are to be contained, with a minimum of fifteen (15) per assigned Site. All specimens must be held within a completely sound-proofed container.

Feeding is to be carried out as follows: the endolymph of cattle (kept on-site specifically for this purpose) is to be extracted weekly, and then inserted into basic, reusable models of the human auditory system (referred to as the █████ model: please see Addendum 1148-1). At this time, it is decided that reproduction should be allowed to occur as normal, however specimens are to be removed and incinerated (through the use of sound-proofed biohazard suits) should the population increase past acceptable limits.

Any SCP-1148 specimens found outside of Site-██ must be destroyed at the earliest possible opportunity. SCP-1148 eggs are to be incinerated and the areas housing them fumigated, with appropriate cover stories provided to local media.

Description: SCP-1148 (Tibicen auritus) is a species of the family Cicadidae. While SCP-1148 imago display few anomalous properties apart from a tendency to deposit eggs in the interior of artificial structures as opposed to trees, nymphs feed in an exceptionally uncommon manner. Unlike most members of the order Hemiptera, SCP-1148 is not herbivorous - instead of consuming arboreal sap, nymphs are known to drain the endolymph from human cochlear ducts. Other adaptations, such as a specially elongated and retractable proboscis, and an internal structure with the function of efficiently digesting substances with a high potassium concentration are also notable, though not independently unusual.

Specimens facilitate feeding through the use of combination of undetermined audio frequencies (all of which are estimated to be extremely close to the upper range of human hearing) that cause adverse psychological and physical effects. While the sounds produced are imperceptible and asymptomatic in noisy environments (>50 dB), they cause a phenomenon usually described as 'deafening silence' by those who experience it in quiet places (<10 dB).

The first effect of these sounds is a headache and nausea, followed by extreme dizziness and, unconsciousness. Extremely close exposure to the sound has been shown to cause severe damage to lung and neural tissue; however, fatal injury rarely occurs.

SCP-1148 will find and incapacitate prey in quiet environment, then crawl behind the target's ear following the onset of unconsciousness. Specimens will then use their proboscis to puncture the skin and drain the inner ear, a process which will often leave victims permanently deaf in addition to severely impairing balance. Most specimens are able to survive feeding only once every one (1) or two (2) weeks.

SCP-1148 has shown a mild preference for human subjects over other animals for the purpose of feeding. The reason for this is unknown; however personnel have speculated that humans provide the greatest ratio of prey availability to endolymph volume. Research into this is ongoing.

Special Containment Procedures: Under normal circumstances SCP-873 is to remain in an isolation chamber, 4 metres in diameter and 2.5 metres high, durably padded, equipped with a central drain in the floor and water valve in the ceiling. 1200 kcal of Standard Food Mixture 003 mixed with ██████████████ is to be dropped in from ceiling vents in the morning and evening. Ten minutes of flowing water will be provided after each meal.

During 873's more lucid periods (see Document #873-03), he may be allowed more typical residence befitting prisoners under interrogation. Tranquilization by gaseous sedatives is mandatory before each move. For his own protection all potentially hazardous objects are to be kept out of 873's reach at all times.

No unnecessary equipment, clothing, furniture, or other items are to be introduced into either chamber. Personnel are required to wear treated MBC suits and be individually approved by Dr. Marracini before entry is permitted. One week of complete isolation quarantine are required after returning. Any personnel exhibiting similar symptoms to SCP-873 are to be apprehended immediately and observed in a secondary chamber for two months, after which they are to be immediately terminated. (Containment of secondary victims of SCP-873 may be either individual or collective, as to be determined by Dr. Marracini.)

Description: SCP-873 is an adult human male, estimated to be around 47 years old. Medical tests indicate no abnormal diseases or conditions outside of mild anemia. Known infectious biological structures are similarly absent. Psychological evaluation during the periods in which the subject is most lucid, and behavioral observation at other times, indicate that 873 suffers from clinical lycanthropy and believes himself to be in the process of transforming into an organism of unknown nature (see Document#873-03). Neuroimaging bears out this hypothesis.

The organism which SCP-873 imitates is currently unknown, as the subject has not been able to name or describe it during lucid phases, and observations of his degenerate behavior do not match that of any animals known to the Foundation. In addition, the disorder appears to be transmissible to other humans (see Document #873-01), and termination of the subject will be postponed until the nature of the delusion and transmission vector are identified.

Addendum: Dr. Alvarez suggests, based on observations between ██/██/████ ████ and ██/██/████ ████, that 873 may be suffering additional psychological problems, including auditory and possibly visual hallucinations that suggest comorbid schizophrenia or related disorders. Drs. Marracini and Butler advocate further testing before such conclusions are drawn.

██/██/████: Hypothetical Incident 873-A (███████████, Brazil).
All survivors now presumed deceased.

██/██/████: Hypothetical Incident 873-B (████████, Brazil).
Number of survivors believed to be thirteen. 11 confirmed dead, 2 at large.

██/██/████: Incident 873-C (São Paulo, Brazil). First definite instance in which SCP-873 was involved.
Breakout of contagion at █████████████ Sanitarium, leading to a news blackout and lockdown. All 5 survivors are reported to exhibit symptoms similar to that of SCP-873, and are transferred to nearby asylums. Most records were destroyed, but Foundation agents were later able to identify an incoming patient as the source and trace her back to prior incidents A and B. Incidents prior to A are not known.

██/██/████: Incident 873-D (São Paulo, Brazil).
The Foundation became aware of SCP-873 during the aftermath of Incident 873-D and successfully eradicated all other victims. SCP-873 was held for further study and transported to his current location. Investigations determined that 873 was a patient in █████████ Mental Hospital prior to the incident, transferred from █████████████ Sanitarium. Prior to Incident 873-C he is thought to have been a secretary in the office of responsible for the patient believed to have caused Incidents 873-B and -C.

Class-3 and higher personnel may consult the SCP-873 medical records for further information.

SCP-873 oscillates between a period of near-human behavior and degenerate phase. Peak lucidity and degeneracy occur approximately 29 days apart. At his best, 873 is able to read, speak, use basic tools, and walk upright (though he does not write intelligibly or remember faces for extended periods, and reacts with extreme hostility to perceived injury or slight). However, as 873 enters the degenerate phase linguistic comprehension disappears, and he becomes actively malicious. Cannibalistic activity has been observed at least twice. Tool use becomes erratic and seems guided mainly by attempts to injure others or, occasionally, himself. Pattern recognition, however, remains, and facial recognition seems actually to improve, as he reacts more strongly against personnel he has previously assaulted. It is not clear whether 873 can recognize himself in a mirror.

SCP-873 also loses his bipedal gait, instead preferring to go about on all fours and, frequently, his stomach or back. Observation suggests he believes himself to be in possession of at least three more limbs than he actually has, which accounts for certain ineffective movements that have resulted in self-injury. Chemical imbalances are observed and compensated for through the food supply. SCP-873 also appears to use his senses and muscles more effectively, but this is likely only a cognitive development. No other biological changes have been noted.

These observations also hold true for infectees of SCP-873. The vector of transmission of the disease is unknown, but the following sources have all been eliminated:

• Bacterial and fungal infections, viruses and prions
• Physical contact, airborne matter, or air exchange

Containment procedures have been incorporated to account for all of these possibilities and failed to prevent multiple Incidents.

• Physical proximity
• Visual or informational exposure

Incident 873-H was traced to D-class personnel ████ █████, who was stationed at Site ███ but was never in contact with SCP-873, its containment sector, or any of the doctors or research files associated with the SCP.

• Recognized paranormal phenomena or spiritual contact

Various equipment and other SCPs have been utilized in the Foundation's observations, but failed to reveal any abnormal events.

Dr. Butler has suggested that at least one person, D-class personnel ███████ ████, was somehow able to act as a carrier during Incident 873-H. Unfortunately, this possibility cannot be properly studied, due to his quarantining and termination following the incident.

SCP-1168, shortly after containment.

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1168 is to be contained in a 5cm-thick locked box, itself held within a locker at Site-██. Access requires the authorisation of at least two (2) Level 4 Personnel.

When handling SCP-1168, staff are to use a remotely operated robotic device, or (if neccesary) tongs with a minimum length of 20cm. Individuals who come into contact with SCP-1168 are to be detained or, if appropriate, terminated.

Description: SCP-1168 is a featureless cloth doll, depicting a humanoid figure wearing a black coat and boots. It does not bear any marks which would identify an official doll maker, however its design would seem to indicate that it was manufactured sometime in the mid-19th century. The words “Captain Electricity! [sic]” are written on its back in red felt-tip pen, presumably added some time after its original construction.

SCP-1168’s anomalous property manifests when it comes within 1.2cm of a living multi-cellular organism. Individuals affected by SCP-1168 will have their conductance to all forms of energy exponentially increase over time, at a rate of 2.6 percent of their current conductance per minute (2.6 %/min). When not in contact with the object, resistance returns to its prior quantity at the same rate.

Different varieties of tissue are affected seperately depending on their individual properties. Following initial exposure, particularly non-conductive tissue – such as the epidermis – is most notably impacted; similarly, tissue which would normally be especially conductive – such as nervous tissue – displays the least change.

Experimentation has determined that SCP-1168’s observable effects follow the same consistent pattern in animals. In one test involving laboratory rats, reaction time and hearing were seen to improve over the first six (6) minutes as a result of (respectively), a more efficient transference of electrical impulses and heightened sound absorption.

After eleven (11) minutes, erratic behaviour – including spasmodic muscle contraction and irregular movement – was noted, as well as a minor decrease in body temperature and exacerbated movement reduction from friction. At eighteen (18) minutes, the above effects had been further exaggerated. Twenty-three (23) minutes in, the subject died from intense hypothermia.

In another, similar test where the ambient temperature was raised to 37°C in order to reduce the loss of body heat, the subject survived for a full hour, at which point the test was ended. Apart from temperature decrease, the subject was affected in much the same way as in the first test; however, at thirty-eight (38) minutes, a darkening and transparency became visibly noticeable, presumably resulting in temporarily impaired vision,⁴ which continued to progress for the following twenty-two (22) minutes. SCP-1168 has no effects on non-living substances or unicellular organisms. If a subject in contact with it were to die, SCP-1168’s effects on it would immediately cease.

Notes on Recovery: SCP-1168 was first retrieved from the village of ███████, S███████ on 11/04/██ after causing the related deaths of three (3) prepubescent children; two were found to have died from the condition discussed above. The third was found to have suffered severe injury due to inserting a metal implement into one of his room’s plug-sockets.

SCP-1168, along with Document 1168-1 (see below), had apparently been delivered to the residence in an unmarked package.

Document 1168-1: The following is the contents of the letter found with SCP-1168 at the time of recovery. It seems to have been intended to serve as a summary of SCP-1168’s effects, despite gross inaccuracies. It appears to have been written in the same type of felt-tip pen as the label on SCP-1168’s back.

Hey kids! Now, this may look like just a normal doll, but this here is CAPTAIN ELECTRICITY! With this, you’ll be able to freeze the environment, run at super speeds, turn invisible, react super-quick and – of course – CONTROL ELECTRICITY. Just merely hold it and you’ll be able to do ALL THESE THINGS. Just hold the doll!

Investigation into the original writer and possible previous owner of SCP-1168 is ongoing. Both the handwriting and source have yet to be identified.

That’s the whole reason I’m here. It’s very interesting, you know? Not like a normal bogeyman at all, yet that’s what it’s clearly supposed to be. I mean- what? Oh, yes. Well, of course they exist. Why do you think so many unconnected children, all who’ve never heard of such a thing, always fixate on the term?

Look, do you understand how gods work? No? Wonderful. Alright, I’ll put this in simple terms: bogeymen are figments of the collective child imagination. Yes. Yes, I did say figments. It doesn’t make them any less real, but they’re still made-up. They’re arrogant sods too, but I couldn’t care. Pretty shamelessly self-promoting, at least the ones I’ve met. They get off on fear.

…anyway, what was I saying? Ah, yes. Well, I’ve gone through all the literature – Howe’s Commentary on Domestic Bogeymen, Peri’s notes, Lycadia Arcaon’s Letters on the Subject of Household Gods – and you know what? This, this “080” is completely inconsistent with traditional form. Usually, they have physical shape, and they’re friendly, child-specific fellows; not to mention quite definitely male. Definitely indeed. Why, I’ve had a few experiences that even fertility gods couldn’t… sorry.

Listen, I’ve even gone over these supplementary documents: studies of fae, trolls and whatnot, analyses of child psychology and behaviour patterns, Grimms’ tales, Clifford the Big Red Dog. Near enough- yes, I think it’s important. I mean, it serves a wonderfully direct work on the thought processes of children… no, that one is just because I was bored. That one because I like stories about horses. Still helped, though.

Yes, I’m kidding. Need I say that children are odd? They’d have to be, to create such things. Off the adults run, making deities to boil people’s blood and strike down heretics, yet children, through the same method, bring happy little monsters to life – with them wanting only terror from innocent waking nightmares. Yes happy. They have to be. They have the mindset of a human aged ten when born. But then socialisation comes into effect and they mature quite quickly. After all, other beings don’t usually stand for that annoying juvenility – self-righteousness is by far an improvement.

The young conceive of basic things, since they don’t have the ego to raise themselves above it. The dark, the predators, death: simple fears, without malice. Well, without complex malice. Not at all like their elders. No, fear is something different for them… for us. Er, not us specifically, actually. We both have a good deal of things to fear – which brings me back to the subject at hand. This thing, something which adults shouldn’t experience anymore…

It’s not unnatural, no. “Too natural”… hmm, I suppose that’s a way of putting it. It still speaks to a certain primal thing, fear itself. Though it does it in the wrong way, since sleep is the bane of a good bogeyman. They aren’t born from dreams, dreams are a different matter. Dreams can still terrify, but they can’t please or birth bogeymen. In fact, they provide an escape, a deprivation. Oh yes, you have children scream and cry in their sleep, but I’m told it’s rather unsatisfying. Besides, it typically results from something more perverse, something which bogeymen tend not to do with. If they did, they wouldn’t be bogeymen. They’d be horrors.

Good god, you’ve certainly got me talking! My point was, I’ve looked at everything that could give me some insight into the creation of this SCP-080, considered the matter tirelessly, and not one thing would imply that it should exist. Not one! This thing is couldn’t even be a Thosk, far too inorganic… I’m rambling on again, aren’t I? Sorry.

What I’m trying to say is that this little curiosity, despite what you know or suspect, despite how it may seem, most certainly isn’t a bogeyman. Good god, I don’t what this is, as much as I’m ashamed to admit it, but it’s just not. No, this is something else entirely. I really can’t investigate more, I’m ashamed to admit; although I still want to know where it came from.

Special Containment Procedures: Specimens are to be kept in standard enclosures, provided with food and treatment standard for captive tsetse flies (Document 1171-2, which explains the exact details of this, will be distributed to personnel responsible for their care). A minimum of twenty (20) and a maximum of fifty (50) SCP-1171 specimens are to be contained at one time, distributed amongst Site-██ and ███.

In the event of a pregnancy amongst the contained SCP-1171 population, special containers of blood wrapped in 20cm² of skin, both removed from D-Class personnel (known as the ██████ SCP-1171 model; please refer to Document 1171-3) are to be placed within the enclosure. The remains are to be removed after the involved larva hatches, and any excess of specimens (i.e., new specimens which exceed the acceptable limit of the population) are to be exterminated. Both should be disposed of via incenertion.

Description: SCP-1171 (Glossina nuckelavee) is a species of tsetse fly. The species is notable for a highly anomalous reproductive cycle, largely affecting pregnancy and egg development.

The process of mating occurs as normal; however, fertilisation appears to stimulate the synthesis of a membranous mucus, which is secreted on the abdomen. Said membrane shows no properties inconsistent with normal mucus when removed from an SCP-1171 specimen, or when not in contact with human epidermal tissue. Following this, the involved female will actively seek out a humanoid subject.

After locating a suitable host, the female will, in addition to drawing blood (unless satiated), attempt to expose its abdomen to an area of undamaged skin. If the epidermis makes contact with the mucus present, it will appear to separate from the dermis and transmit into the female’s uterus by way of a specially adapted gland. Tissue absorbed in this way is reduced to a liquid state, and interspersed with a high-energy, milky substance.

The specimen will leave upon absorbing enough skin to expand its abdomen, shortly after which the mucus will harden and fall off. Similarly, several days later, a small mass of the absorbed skin (less than 5% of that stored) will form a cohesive and protective sphere around the embryo, which will continue to expand until the mother initiates birth. Upon doing so, the egg and its aforementioned shell will be discharged, shortly followed by the remaining tissue.

The egg will hatch under twenty (20) minutes later. The larva will then consume the released material and burrow into the ground. The nutrients provided by the mother are digested and the surplus skin is excreted, providing the energy necessary to undergo pupation and the intermediary instar phases, before eclosion.

• Adaption Feeder - A species of variable nature, which, when in the prescence of other organims, causes retro-progression while it adapts at a proportional rate.

• Hunting Pond - A pond which regularily manifests in the perception of anyone who attempts to disturb it, resulting in the inescapable feeling of being stalked by a body of water.

• Wing Maggots - A parasitic species of Brachycera (bluebottles), which possesses a feather-like imago stage. During this stage, specimens act in a communal manner, bonding together to create a fly-like structure, seemingly composed of feathers.

• Atlas Beetle - A species beetle which simulates life withn a miniature makeshift world, for the purposes of supporting its offspring. This world consists of a collection of organic matter and rock which it carries on it's back, the latter aspect similiar to the common dung beetle. Alternatively: A species of beetle which simulates life within a pocket dimension, for the purposes of supporting its offspring.

• Virus-Based Fly - A species of Musca, which reproduces by introducing retrovirus-infected gametes into humans.

• Anthropomorphic Wolf - A species of canid which has sapience in the same sense that an owl buttefly has eyes on its wings. Notably, its abilities are developed not to hunt humans, but as a defense for being hunted by them, as it appears to have an uncharecteristic capacity for compassion (that is, despite have the actual sentimentality towards humans as regular wolves, lacking only the avoidance behaviour). Alternatively: A typical anthropomorhic wolf, which resides within a human dwelling. Has the same low intelligence, however it also tends to construct pits to trap humans.

• A large, insectoid entity composed entirely of an internet article. It is not, in fact, physical, and consists entirely of a digital page.

• Theme Park Mascot - Something which "AgentDerbie" came up with, in regards to this image. In her words:

What if this was a costumed mascot character that went missing from an amusement park in Japan? Then little kids started disappearing… then they found out he was eating them, and when the thing was taken into custody, they found that the costume no longer had just a human inside it, but a mass of children around the skeleton of the original host… all mashed together to fill up the costume… and the eyes were a collection of all the kids brains.

The Formicidae produced by the termination of β-1194 Event █

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Sites ██ and ███ – respectively located within SCP-1194-1 and SCP-1194-2 – have been established for the purposes of containing SCP-1194. Personnel assigned to the Sites, including research and medical personnel, should ideally be selected from individuals who are capable of reacting swiftly to a high-pressure and unpredictable situation. Agents are to work on three to four (3-4) hour night-shifts.

As completely preventing habitation by the public would attract attention, SCP-1194-1 and SCP-1194-2 have been purchased by the Foundation under the guise of providing "private housing discerning and wealthy clients”. To this end, a strict screening process is employed to prevent any children under the age of eighteen (18) from entering either area.

Response to α-1194 Events consists of identifying involved individuals, documenting and recording the event, destroying leaked information and ensuring the survival of involved persons. Agents are tasked with responding as necessary to any unexpected situation which may present itself.

β-1194 Events are to, if at all possible, be prevented from occurring. β-1194 Events which occur regardless should be allowed to complete (the provision of Class-A amnesiacs to civillian witnesses of the first stage, where appropiate, is acceptable). After this, Class-B amnesiacs should be administered to the parents or caretakers of the child subject, who are to be made to believe that the loss of their child is due to abduction. The Foundation’s involvement in local police forces allow the use of this while avoiding public involvement, as Agents can easily pose as police-officers.

Description: SCP-1194 refers to recurring nocturnal phenomena, which occurs in two locations: [DATA REDACTED], ██████████, E██████ and ███████, █████████, N█████. The parts of these areas in which SCP-1194 occurs are respectively designated SCP-1194-1 and SCP-1194-2.

Two varieties of SCP-1194 have been identified, designated "α-1194 Events" and "β-1194 Events".

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1141-1 is to be contained in a 5m×5m×3m containment cell. Since it does not appear to require food, water or sleep, no contact is required except for the purpose of research. In the event that it breaches containment, it is to be sedated and returned to its containment cell, or, if that is not possible, any suitable chamber.

SCP-1141-2 currently kept in a 3m×3m×3m storage vault in Site ██. The object is not to be removed without the authorisation of at least one (1) Level 3 personnel, or that of Dr. ██████.

Description: SCP-1141 is a vaguely humanoid, bipedal organism currently classified as an arthropod, possessing six (6) limbs, two (2) on its upper thorax, two (2) on its lower thorax, and two (2) on its pygidium. The subject also possesses two (2) compound eyes, each with a diameter of roughly 6.5cm, and two (2) 9.5cm long mandibles attached to its mouthpart. Though SCP-1141 has never been observed to consume food, it has been known to use its mouthpart to inflict lacerations.

The subject displays a high level of both aggression and physical strength. It has successfully breached containment on █ separate occasions, resulting in a total of ██ casualties.

SCP-1141-1 was first recovered from SCP-1141-2 (Formerly [DATA REDACTED] 144), shortly after the conclusion of Incident ██ 144-1. The subject appeared to be a normal [DATA REDACTED] egg, although the size was noted to be unusual. It was placed under observation, and hatched after fourteen (14) days, producing a small insectoid organism (0.98m in height, 11.9Kg in mass). The subject underwent six (6) ecdyses over five (5) months (Height and mass after each ecdysis was recorded as, respectively, 1.05m/13.5Kg, 1.09m/17.6Kg, 1.14m/21.7Kg, 1.21m/24.9Kg, 1.29m/28.3Kg and 1.37m/30.2Kg). At the time, the subject displayed no aggression towards research or D-Class personnel, allowing accurate measurements to be taken. Notably, despite the subject’s continued growth, it displayed no need to consume food or water, nor the need to sleep.

Twenty-two (22) days after its sixth ecdysis, the subject began producing a large quantity of a silk-like substance from its mouthpart. Using its upper appendages, it began forming a cocoon over approximately seven (7) minutes. Once this was fully formed, the subject became inert for a period of seventeen (17) weeks, after which it eclosed into its current form.

History: Recruited from the University of ████████ on ██/██/██, after he and several colleagues were found to have received and been studying the remains of an SCP-████ specimen. While the rest of those involved were administered amnesiacs as per protocol, he was found to display a notable lack of surprise at the nature of the subject, stating that it was simply “another interesting sample”. Later employed as an Assistant level Researcher at the suggestion of Agent █████.

Why is your name so silly? – [REDACTED]

Of note is the fact that Researcher Lycaon has no forename. This is apparently due to his family (collectively identified by the term “Lycon”)’s atypical nomenclature, which is not entirely consistent with standard Western naming convention. All given names resemble those of a previous member who had achieved a high level of notoriety, resulting in (presumably due to some oversight) most members having very similar names.

The pseudonym “████ ████████” has been assigned for personal use.

SCP items researched:

Incident ███-███: On ██/██/██, after monthly screening, Researcher Lycaon was found to be host to several Dermatobia hominis eggs. Follow up interviews revealed that he had voluntary exposed himself to a female botfly. His reasons were stated to be that “[he] wanted to see what it was like”. As a result, he is currently on forced leave, and is to attend mandatory psychological counseling sessions.

This presents a clear contamination risk. Something needs to be done, perhaps discharge. At least transfer him to something less active, preferrably something more paperwork oriented. – Dr. Wilkinson

While the traditional "Locked Box test" does provide an easily referrable way of ensuring the validity of an item classication, I've always found it just a little objectionable. While certainly relevant, that method specifically addresses object classes in relation to containment, despite the apparent case that all three classes do, in fact, have more to do with the behaviour of the item more than anything else. With this in mind, I've devised an derivative guide:

	The object's given anomalous property can be predicted and, to some significant degree, controlled. As such, it can be reliably contained. Even attached to a sapient or unpredictable non-anomalous subject, it is still Safe so long as property itself is self-conistent.
	The object, to some extent, had an unpredicatable effect. Note that the effect itself must be inpredictable - the situatuation or conext, such as the existence of uncontained varieties, do not alone qualify the object for Euclid classification.
	Supersedes the first two if applicable. The object can and will cause significant damage to human society, in some way, if left unattended and uncontained.

Entomology of the Lycon Crevice (Introduction)

There is an archaic legend amongst my family, which predates even the first of us. While this tale tends to alter with each telling, there are aspects which we would not dare change. It invariably regards a crevice, accessible only by esoteric means which I do not care to divulge. This crevice is always small and unremarkable, only just large enough to allow the entry of a human, and is hidden within some extreme place – often a mountain or cave, although my great-grandmother told it to be set deep within a large forest – and even then, obscured by scenery.

While it appears to be only a shallow crack in the stone, wood, or ground, it is in fact an entrance of great depth and significance. Unknown is it who went into the place to obtain the knowledge of its contents, as none of my relatives seem to know of the myth’s origin, nor even of any of our ancestors who might have. As far as I am aware, nobody has found or entered it in the last century. As such, I cannot account for its credibility, though I present it to you only as a fable, so that may make little difference.

Once one has passed through the crevice, they will find themselves within a cavern which resembles no place on this world. The rock that composes it is sulphurous and brittle to the touch, and throughout grows luminous lichen and moss. The distant ceiling is bright enough to emulate daylight, and one could not stare at it without soon averting their eyes. I am told that flowering plants – in many fantastic shades of blood red and violent purple – grow there, but none of this is particularly well detailed. After all, my family has always been studyers of daemons and insects, and therein lies the focus of the story. For the plant life, in all its splendour, is nothing compared to the insects.

These insects, it is said, display variety enough to constitute a whole Order. Some would be considered monstrous by the standards of modern society, however many are simply odd, and at times, the distinction between a truly natural beast and one of daemonic nature is blurred. My family keeps record of these strange and wondrous organisms via a kind of bestiary, which is updated by those few who have supposedly ventured to the place (The last of which, if memory serves me, was my great-great grandfather, Lucas of Argolis). The tradition has always been to pass this book to the eldest capable male, and it was most recently entrusted by my father to my late brother Kaon, before it passed to me. My inheritance of the book afforded me my first chance to read through it, bringing to my attention the more incredible aspects of my family’s legacy. Having conferred with my surviving relatives, I have decided to submit this publication using said work as my primary source. If you would wish to be privy to such esoteric information, please read on.

The Lycon Cryptotaxonomical System

Derived from the “Meta-Biological Classification System” designed by Maria Anure, with the aid of Lycadia Arcaon, Robert Hanes and various others – the purpose of this system is to provide a method by which those esoteric, crptozoological, cryptobotanical or parabiological entities, unknown to popular science, can be taxonomically classifed for ease of study.

It has been divided into two basic sections:

• Firstly, those species with physiological or composite adaptations significantly dissimilar to any of those known to publically used taxonomy are to be classified under the kingdom (or alternatively, domain) Anomaliae. Such organisms include not only those of a biological persuasion, but aethereal entities such as dei, elementals and various endocorporeal parasites.

Sub-classification (phylum, class, order, etc.) and binomial nomenclature are approached in much the same manner as they would otherwise be.

• Secondly, those classifications consistent with the exoteric method are to be attached to the appropriate, non-anomalous kingdom, affixed with the term “(Cryptos)”. Any rank below phylum is eligible for this designation; however phyla themselves, due to their comparative size, are not.

The highest taxon which is assigned a Cryptos designation in any given case is referred to as the “occultus maximum” (plr. occultus maxima). Furthermore, there are three distinct incorporations of the (Cryptos) tag into species names, varying with the classification to which the occultus maximum is assigned.

1. Suffixed, where the species belongs to a normal genus. E.g., Canis benevolens (Cryptos).

2. Inserted between the genus name and specific epithet, in the circumstance that the relevant species belongs to an anomalous genus, which is itself of a normal family. E.g., Anthitrus (Cryptos) alati.

3. Prefixed, where the occultus maximum precedes genera. E.g., (Cryptos) Bathocarchus ingenitur.

An additional function exists for those frequently encountered oddities: that is, those species which are completely inconsistent with higher ranks. Such phenomena are distinguished by the use of “(Exceptis)”, which is invariably attached to the end of a scientific name when applied. Note that this may not be used in conjunction with (Cryptos), as such taxa – due to their bizarre nature – are invariably of Anomaliae. Higher classifications may not be assigned an Exceptis designation – it being something applicable only to species.

Additional Notes: Cryptids consisting of either only one member, or whose existence is widely disputed (or, as the case may be, disproven) are not covered by this system: the former being subject to portentumological⁶ study, the latter for reasons common to any form of science.

Inventory of the Cellar in The College of East Yor'el (Recovered Documentation)|Recovered Inventory of the Cellar in the College of East Yor'el

Writer and Original Annotator Unknown. Additional Commentary Provided by L. E. Therianthus, Scholar of the Library.

The following is believed to be a fragmented copy of the inventory for the College of East Yorۥel’s main cellar. The document was known to have been brought into the collection of the Lycon family for several generations, before passing to the Hand. During its possession, it was identified as a dialect of D’est, translated into German and Greek, before being translated into English several years later. However, it would appear that many liberties were taken in doing so; an error exacerbated by the fact that a great degree of the information on Yoren known amongst this world's scholars has come to light only in the past few decades.

Unfortunately, since the original text has been lost for some time, a more accurate translation cannot be provided; I have endeavoured to amend this problem by contributing to the translator’s annotation in order to account for his numerous errors.

– “[One] (1) flower of Folium caeli (a.k.a. Yorۥan godbloom or viridignus blossom), immersed in a mixture of Yorۥan rain water⁷ and aqua cultus procured from the Omnius river.

Removed from Uonder valley, Yorۥan, during an occurrence of the Greenfire blooming (refer to appended essay, A Study of Deus corpus and Its Numerous Plant Forms).

27. Three (3) bottles of distilled thought (to mature);

• Vintage: 587 past the Time of the Serpent. Removed from an adolescent, or possibly a prepubescent – exact age is unknown, as is sex, gender, race, etc., due in part to this being the oldest sample on record, and being acquired prior to the institution of formal record-keeping and analysis.

When first brought in, this particular bottle was noted for its exceptional usefulness in rituals involving sacrifice. Understandably, this usefulness has diminished somewhat over time.

• Vintage: 1347 past the Time of the Third Great Deluge. Removed from a renowned theologist (identity unknown) shortly before his involvement with the Jalque the Lesser Known⁸.

While this fluid of great interest due to the unusual circumstances surrounding its source, it displays no special properties of any practical nature, and was originally acquired on behalf of the College by a collector of “quaint peculiarities”.

• Vintage: 771 past the Time of the Fourth Great Deluge. Removed from a College scholar, who volunteered for the procedure in order to allow the full development of an idea which he wished to “survive past [his] own mortal constraints”.
The bottle is sealed, and is not to be disturbed until 1193, the date specified by its donator.

28. Four (4) jars, respectively containing the preserved eyes, tounge, tails and pelts⁹ of a single modern Thosk specimen.

29. Assorted elementals, each contained in a sealed chamber filled with a concentrated form of their respective corpus;

• A collective of tidal xals, stored in a jar filled with water removed from the northern shore of Theryn, the same location which the elementals themselves (having manifested in excess due to the dissolution of local genii) were found.

• A plant prit, stored in a solid block of copperwood, and secured by strong chains. Possibly a hybrid of some kind of metal prit and a seperate plant prit, given its composition, and the fact that copperwood prits are otherwise unknown – even to advanced divination techniques. Mildly aggressive, and frequently attempts to rattle off its shelf.

• A xal, apparently consisting of flame, which affects organised thought and sentience in the same way a normal fire elemental affects fuel. Destroyed much of the Library of Tstal by replacing the contents with gibberish before storage.¹⁰

• A fire xal, dissolved in aqua deus. Stored with a great enough quantity of aqua cultus to allow the creation of a simple Birung. Collected from the Kosoth region¹¹ of Yorۥan.

• A mercurial prit, kept in a glass jar under standard conditions. Involved in the continued study of the distinction between the more volatile"–

The first fragment ends here. The second fragment is below, and, unlike the first (which consisted of two charred pages, similar to other documents procured from Yoren), it seems to have been cleanly severed.

"134. Ichor of Pan mater, blessed be the All Mother (a.k.a. Nectar of the All Mother, blessed be she; Milk of the All Mother, blessed be she). Recovered from a pre-royal¹² tomb.

It is vitally important that the liquid be stored only the finest vase, in the centre of the cellar. This vase is to be stored on the finest crimson-coloured cloth, on the finest altar. Worship is to occur daily. The importance of these attributes cannot be stressed enough, lest we are noticed by the All Mother, blessed be she. I doubt any of us would wish to be reduced to that state again.

Despite the name, the liquid is not directly related to the All Mother, blessed be she. Rather, it is a mixture of several hundred substances, many of which are unidentified and highly volatile. The mixture itself seems to be a form of abyssus nix, apart from rumoured” –

The remainder is, for reasons unknown, cut off.

I should remark, for the benefit of anyone unfamiliar with D’est culture, how unusual this last section is. In all I have seen of the land, I have never heard reference to an “All Mother”, nor have I ever witnessed such zealousness from the College. As such, with the relatively low quantity of information I have in regards to this, I can say only that the nature of this seemingly paganistic fervour is insincere, and beyond that, baffling.
