possibly too OTT? partially saved somewhat that we can never use it, but…
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXX is to be stored in an iron box, measuring approximately 3m x 3m x 3m, which is to be bolted to to the floor of its designated containment cell. The iron used in the construction of the containment module is be of a low carbon content. The aforementioned cell is to be kept in a state of constant hard vacuum behind a double airlock. No
experimentation or testing which would require or potentially allow SCP-XXX to be removed from containment is permissible or advisable. No benefits gained by purposely removing SCP-XXX from containment are to be deemed 'acceptable'. SCP-XXX containment structures are to be inspected once monthly, with any signs of corrosion or decay reported to maintenance for immediate repair. Level 5 authorization is required to interact with SCP-XXX in any way, precluding maintenance.
Description: In a hard vacuum, SCP-XXX appears as a dense black, amorphous cloud of hydrogen gas. When exposed to non-ferrous materials and gases, the cloud contracts, minimizing its surface area and causing the spontaneous fissile decay of matter within a progressively larger radius to hydrogen and helium. This radius scales exponentially with the mass of material currently affected by SCP-XXX; a containment breach is capable of causing a YK-class scenario within an hour of exposure to open air.
After approximately thirteen minutes of exposure to non-ferrous materials, hydrogen and helium produced by or introduced to SCP-XXX will undergo nuclear fusion. This process tends to favor production of stable isotopes of lithium, nitrogen, silicon, and phosphorous, which coalesce into nanometer scale grains of dust which remain suspended within the plasma generated by SCP-XXX. These dust grains have been observed displaying tendencies toward self-organization in self-replicating structures of increasing complexity. After approximately twenty minutes, these self-organizing and self-replicating structures demonstrate behavior consistent with single-cellular inorganic life, and after twenty-three minutes, exhibit behavior consistent with colonial single-cell organisms. No results past this mark have proven possible to record, for fear of a TCF YK-class scenario.
Addendum: SCP-XXX was seized in a raid on a Prometheus Laboratory asset in Tibet
notes:
01:12 TroyL How did we contain this thing, anyhoiw?
01:13 Sabitsuki I'm still working on that part, but I was thinking we seized it from somewhere, already contained
01:13 TroyL Mmm… Maybe manufactured.
01:14 Sabitsuki Prom Labs, maybe
01:14 TroyL Yes.
01:14 Doctopus sabs
01:14 TroyL Might have been developed to power vehicals then…
01:14 Sabitsuki yes
01:15 Doctopus change from "Pure iron" to something like "iron with a low carbon content"
01:15 Doctopus also
01:15 Doctopus an idea
01:15 Doctopus it's starting to shift properties
01:16 TroyL Is there an atom that naturally resists splitting?
01:16 Doctopus at least the stuff we're studying
01:16 Doctopus like
01:16 Doctopus we run electron microscope tests on it
01:16 Doctopus and it starts looking like viable fuel
01:16 Doctopus or like it's containable
01:16 Doctopus -it's trying to get out-
01:16 Sabitsuki hm
01:16 TroyL Mmm… Sentient, then?
01:16 Sabitsuki that's a pretty good idea
01:16 TroyL Might be a little over the top, but I like it.
01:17 Doctopus nah
01:17 Doctopus not sentient
01:17 Doctopus well
01:17 Doctopus sentient in that it's aware
01:17 Doctopus but it's not sapient
01:17 Doctopus it just knows when it's being looked at
01:17 Doctopus and attempts to look interesting
01:18 TroyL So, it responds positively? How would it know what we wanted it to look like?
01:18 Doctopus it doesn't
01:18 Doctopus it just -changes-
01:18 Doctopus when it hits on something that causes a change
01:18 Doctopus in the level of observation
01:18 Doctopus it stops
01:19 Doctopus the more "interest" we show
01:19 Doctopus the more it attempts to follow the pattern it's begun
01:19 Doctopus so if it starts looking like a chain of hydrocarbons
01:19 Doctopus and we pay attention and focus in
01:19 Doctopus it'll start looking like a more and more complex chain
01:19 *** Pig_catapult quit (Ping timeout)
01:20 Doctopus it's like a dog or cat figuring out what gets attention
01:20 Doctopus also
01:20 Doctopus if you want creepy?
01:20 Doctopus the people it consumes
01:20 Doctopus are still alive
01:20 Doctopus they know this because there's a knocking
01:20 Doctopus on the walls of the containment
01:20 Doctopus first random
01:20 Doctopus then "shave and a haircut"
01:20 TroyL Hmm… Maybe all of this could be in the notes from PL?
01:21 Doctopus PL?
01:21 TroyL Prom. Labs
01:22 Doctopus oooh
01:22 Doctopus that's how we know not to let it out under any cicumstances
01:22 Doctopus they let it escape
01:22 Doctopus and we tok their notes
01:22 Doctopus *took
01:23 Doctopus sabs
01:23 Doctopus does this sound acceptable tier
01:23 Sabitsuki everything you just said? yeah
01:24 Sabitsuki I don't know if I'll use all of it but I'll def. incorporate some of it
01:25 Doctor_Light Huh, I like the idea in general of learning about containment of other groups' artifacts by stealing/taking their notes
15:19 Sabitsuki wonder if I can combine two cliches and make it worth reading
15:19 Tom90deg Are we going to the basement to try to find an ambulance?
15:19 Tom90deg hmm..
15:19 Tom90deg Perhaps
15:19 Tom90deg which two?
15:19 Sabitsuki spiders and parasites
15:19 Nusquam I think there are already parasite spiders.
15:20 Tom90deg There are spiders with parasites
15:20 Tom90deg those wasps that lay their eggs on the spiders
15:20 Sabitsuki the idea I had was
15:20 Nusquam Parasitoid.
15:20 Sabitsuki you know
15:20 Sabitsuki hermit crabs?
15:20 Nusquam If the parasitosis is universally fatal to the host, it's not a parasite, it's a parasitoid.
15:20 Nusquam Yeah?
15:20 Sabitsuki was it hermit crabs? the crabs that steal the shells and wear them
15:21 Nusquam Yeah.
15:21 E4D Xenomorphs are parasitoids.
15:21 Nusquam I think there's also a kind of octopus that does that with shells.
15:21 E4D Metroids are parasitoids.
15:21 E4D Why are all the sci-fi "parasites" parasitoids?
15:21 Sabitsuki the idea was going to be a spider that did that to humans
15:22 Tom90deg Headcrabs?
15:22 E4D Sabitsuki: That's… fuck yeah.
15:22 Sabitsuki it gestates in the stomach
15:22 Sabitsuki when it reaches it maturity the legs burst from the stomach, throat, and head
15:22 E4D O_O
15:22 Sabitsuki it wears the dead body like a shell
15:23 Sabitsuki maybe the body plays a part in the mating habits
15:23 Nusquam That could work.
15:23 E4D You *son* of a bitch.
15:23 E4D Sabitsuki: Mention that to Dawn when she gets on later.
15:23 Sabitsuki the females have a penchant for little girls
15:23 Sabitsuki no one knows why
15:23 Nusquam I'd have a reason.
15:24 Tom90deg Ohhh
15:24 E4D She's fucking *terrified* of spiders.
15:24 Rights I know why
15:24 Nusquam You don't necessarily have to say it.
15:24 Tom90deg Sounds like the blood ticks from "Deadlands"
15:24 Nusquam But just have one, so you can make implications.
15:24 Tom90deg creeeeepy as hell
15:24 Rights All those glands, ready to make hormones
15:24 Rights Delicious hormones
15:24 Sabitsuki ^
15:24 Sabitsuki
15:24 Sabitsuki nsfw
15:25 MechaTroy AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
15:25 MechaTroy AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
15:25 Maddy XD
15:25 Nusquam Is the host still alive?
15:25 MechaTroy AHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
15:25 Sabitsuki i dunno
15:25 Sophos :|
15:25 Tom90deg …
15:25 MechaTroy cringes in abject terror.
15:25 Tom90deg That's kinda creepy
15:25 Sophos STOP YELLING
15:25 MechaTroy JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST.
15:25 Sophos I'M TRYING TO SLEEP HERE
15:25 Sabitsuki maybe not in a real sense
15:25 Sabitsuki like
15:25 Sabitsuki rudimentary
15:25 Sabitsuki like someone in a coma
15:26 Sabitsuki the spider keeps the host alive because some biological function benefits it
15:26 Nusquam Could have it excavate the skull.
15:26 Tom90deg MAybe the paraiste takes over portions of the brain, makes the host alive and happy, but a kinda….insane Mad-Hatter/Joker insane?
15:26 Nusquam Leave the brainstem intact, though.
15:26 Sabitsuki i dunno
15:27 Sabitsuki maybe do something similar to 939 where they keep everything needed for speech working
15:27 Sabitsuki so a host can lure others to it
15:27 Rights Sabitsuki
15:27 Rights When Laito gets back on, mention this to him
15:27 Sabitsuki ? okay
15:27 Tom90deg that could work as well
15:27 E4D Shit, this is already developing into what I would potentially consider one of my favorite SCPs.
15:27 Rights Because they strongly resemble a species of mine that did something similar, but in an old RP he interacted with one of those creatures
15:27 Rights
15:27 Sabitsuki ah
15:27 Tom90deg Hehee
15:28 Rights Except it accidentally ate a fetus and couldn't reach terminal size to gestate into a full adult, so it had to slowly grow in a gross human body. Anyways, brb, dishes
15:28 Rights So mention it to Laito
15:28 Sabitsuki hm okay
15:28 Sabitsuki maybe i can use the fetus thing in a test long
15:28 Sabitsuki *log
15:28 Rights Well, because they woudl lay eggs in people
15:28 Rights Except the egg accidentaly implanted in a fetus instead of the woman it was trying to implant it in and blah blah blah OLD STUFF
15:28 Rights BRB
15:29 Sabitsuki "Subject implanted into D-36731. Unbeknownst to researchers, D-36731 was pregnant at the time, and the subject instead chose to infest the fetus."
15:30 Tom90deg Creeeeepy
15:31 Nusquam Then the lady gives birth to spiderbabby.
15:31 Nusquam …
15:31 Nusquam .gis RE4 Chief Mendez
15:31 Quidmore Nusquam:
15:32 Sabitsuki "Test Sample 03 later killed D-36731, and in keeping with SCP-XXX morphology, invited several male staff members to mate with her/it. Test Sample 03 terminated by means of incineration."
15:32 Tom90deg I find that less creepy than the drawing, mainy cause of the slashersmile
15:33 Nusquam I would go with strictly nonverbal communication here.
15:33 Nusquam Body language and expression.
15:33 Sabitsuki *nonverbally invited
15:33 Sabitsuki then
15:33 Nusquam If the thing tries to hide its limbs while doing that, even better.
15:33 Nusquam Its obviously inhuman libs, that is.
16:32 Nusquam "Test Sample 03 later killed D-36731, and in keeping with SCP-XXX morphology, invited several male staff members to mate with her/it. Test Sample 03 terminated by means of incineration."
16:32 Nusquam I was thinking that would have something to do with it.
16:32 Sabitsuki yeah
16:33 Sabitsuki yeah okay sure
16:33 Sabitsuki vector is sexual or fluid contact with an infected individual
16:33 Sabitsuki spider AIDS
16:34 Nusquam If the eggs are as small as that would necessitate, how does it ensure only one infects a given host?
16:34 Sabitsuki cannibalism
16:34 Sabitsuki ala nurse sharks
16:34 Nusquam That works.
16:35 Sabitsuki this is a pretty fucked up scp.
16:35 Sabitsuki XD
16:35 Nusquam The best ones are fucked up.
16:36 Sabitsuki fair enough
16:37 Nusquam If you can get someone to say/think "Ffffuuuck that." while they're reading your SCP, you're doing it right.
16:40 Nusquam What about a physical description of the adults?
16:40 Nusquam I mean, legspan, body span, weight, that sort of thing.
16:41 Sabitsuki the legs should be thick, strong, and long enough to lift an adult's body off the ground
16:41 Nusquam Also any quirks of anatomy or other features deserving mention.
16:41 Nusquam Adult legspan of five to six meters?
16:41 Sabitsuki yeah
16:42 Nusquam I'm kind of picturing it growing into the host's body systems, incorporating them into itself.
16:43 Nusquam So, like, it secretes a growth hormone that kicks the host's body into overdrive, in a way.
16:43 Nusquam Heart grows stronger, lungs grow more efficient, and they have to, because they're supporting two organisms.
16:43 Sabitsuki i'm fine with that
16:44 Sabitsuki the host dies at the adult stage
16:44 Sabitsuki when the legs emerge
16:45 Nusquam Dies, as in brain death, or systemic organ failure death?
16:46 Sabitsuki i'm thinking organ failure
16:46 Nusquam If the spider is using the host's organs and doesn't have many of its own, then that would kill it, too.
16:47 Sabitsuki well
16:47 Sabitsuki if we go the mimic route
16:47 Sabitsuki it needs, what
16:47 Sabitsuki the throat, lungs, and the speech centers of the brain intact
16:47 Nusquam If it speaks.
16:48 Nusquam If the host remains conscious, then you could have the spider control the host's behavior through hormone manipulation.
16:49 Sabitsuki that fits with right's idea
16:50 Nusquam Yeah. If you flood the host's system with the right hormones you can make them 1. Numb, 2. Happy, and 3. Horny.
16:50 Nusquam Which can also give you the slasher smile.
16:51 Nusquam That someone else said freaked them out.
15:52 Doctopus hmm
15:52 Doctopus maybe instead of webbing
15:53 Doctopus it excretes some kind of nerve tendrils
15:53 Doctopus so like
15:53 Doctopus they get the parasite inside of them
15:53 Doctopus and it slowly winds it's way through their nervous system
15:54 Doctopus they feel themselves slowly losing control of their limbs and senses
15:54 Doctopus until they're locked in
15:54 Doctopus they can try to cut it out
15:54 Doctopus but it's placement makes it risky
15:54 Sabitsuki hmm
15:55 Doctopus It requires spinal fluid
15:55 Doctopus to catalyze it's gametes
15:56 Sabitsuki alright
15:56 Sabitsuki interesting
15:56 Sabitsuki thanks
A SCP-XXX parasite, in the second stage of infection. |
---|
Item #: SCP-XXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: All known samples of SCP-XXX larva are currently in containment. Systematic purging of SCP-XXX adult samples from civilians is currently (as of ██/██/████) being spearheaded by a combination of Area-14 Research personnel and Mobile Task Force Omicron-7 ("Orkin"). Samples of Foundation strengthened █████-█-████████ (see documentation regarding 'Agent Blue') are in the process of being added to commercially available insecticides, which is expected to prevent any more 'wild' strains of SCP-XXX from arising. All SCP-XXX infectees are to be treated as Class 4 Biohazards, and are to be contained and transported under heavy sedation to Area-14, or otherwise terminated. Deceased bodies infected with any SCP-XXX strain, regardless of developmental stage, are to be incinerated.
Description: SCP-XXX is a parasitoid organism with some superficial similarities to troglobitic members of the class Arachnida. Adult specimens are highly agile and possess leg spans from four to seven meters; due to the difficulty in separating SCP-XXX from their hosts (see below), average weight and body size are moot considerations. Each of their eight translucent legs are dotted regularly with six types of specialized sensory organs: IR-sensitive pit organs, ampullae of Lorenzini, compound and non-compound eyes sensitive to UV, and two additional organs of indeterminate function, and end in large tarsal claws, possessing scopulae and setules common amongst species of hunting spiders and allowing them to climb sheer vertical surfaces with ease. SCP-XXX possess a radial nerve net similar to Asteroidea, or the common starfish, and no central nervous system; the possibility that SCP-XXX rely on their host's brainpower for processing of external stimuli cannot be ruled out at this time.
Infection occurs following exposure to body fluids containing SCP-XXX eggs and larvae. The lifecycle of SCP-XXX, from initial infection to maturity, is as follows:
- Infection occurs with exposure to bodily fluids contaminated with SCP-XXX eggs and/or larvae. While larvae at this point are too small to be seen by the human eye, microscopic testing has revealed eggs are typically no larger than 3 to 5 microns in diameter. SCP-XXX larvae, the only stage of its life cycle with many organ systems necessary for survival prior to integration with a host, possess leg spans from 7 to 17 microns in diameter.
- The first SCP-XXX larvae to hatch will begin cannibalizing any unhatched eggs, then each other, in order to ensure only one larvae develops into an adult within a given host. Hosts will often complain of abdominal and chest pains at this stage.
- Note: Cases of as many as five larvae reaching maturity within a single host, through rare due to competitiveness between larvae for a host and the enormous strain placed upon the host's body, have been documented.
- The remaining SCP-XXX larva migrates to the chest cavity, typically attaching to a major artery, the heart, or spinal cord, positioned with its legs oriented toward the host's back. Internal organ systems of the larva begin atrophying.
- The carapace of SCP-XXX larva's body breaks down; legs remain intact. The circulatory system of the larva conjoins with that of the host, as does its nervous system, though to a lesser extent. The larva begins producing a number of enzymes which trigger the host's body increase production of a number of hormones, including human growth hormone. Earlier abdominal and chest pain subsides. The host experiences an increase in appetite and general listlessness.
- Approximately three weeks after initial infection, SCP-XXX begins to alter serotonin and dopamine levels in the host's brain, causing hosts to experience feelings of happiness and well being. The legs of the larva, now supplied blood and nutrients by the host's circulatory system, begin to penetrate the skin of the host's back. Hosts typically do not report any discomfort or alarm at this, and rarely seek treatment.
- Approximately five weeks after initial infection, SCP-XXX reaches full size and maturity. Hosts are secretive about their condition. A form of communication is believed to occur between SCP-XXX and its host; for example, hosts have displayed a vague awareness of things occurring behind them. SCP-XXX specimens often retract their legs, folding them flat against the host's back, allowing them to be concealed with relative ease by clothing. Additionally, SCP-XXX triggers an increase in the levels of testosterone in the host's body, leading to increased libido. Infection of new hosts is facilitated through contact with bodily fluids contaminated with SCP-XXX eggs; this is usually accomplished via coitus with an infected host.
- All infected individuals that have survived six weeks of infection are considered to be in Stage Seven. Stage Seven infectees report depersonalization, gradual clouding of the eyes leading to loss of eyesight and culminating in near total blindness, and bouts of catatonia and catalepsy. Death is typically due to aneurysm caused by skyrocketing blood pressure, heart or kidney failure, or exsanguination. Infected at this Stage can be identified by the strange 'choking' sound they issue as they attempt to draw in more oxygen than is possible. When the host biologically dies, SCP-XXX will continue to animate the corpse by means of its limbs, entering a 'berserk' state. In this state, SCP-XXX will attempt to reproduce and infect with no regard for concealment, at times inflicting sexual violence in order to do so. This state can last from one to three days before SCP-XXX expires.
Treatment with intravenous anti-parasitic compound is possible, if administered prior to infection advancing to Stage 3.
Addendum: Stage Six and above adult SCP-XXX samples, when not attempting to conceal their identities, are extremely agile and capable predators. Through the use of their powerful limbs and multiple sensory organs, they are highly adept at evading capture; field agents are to be highly cautious and equipped with MOPP-4 gear at all times to prevent infection, and Foundation-issued nerve gas grenades for suppression purposes.
Incident XXX-01
On ██/██/████, Assistant Researcher S████ failed to return a live sample of SCP-XXX larvae to cold storage, instead allowing the sample to remain unattended in the lab for approximately forty-five minutes while on lunch break. The resulting breach of containment resulted in seven SCP-XXX infections amongst research and security personnel, and another five in D-Class personnel. The affected wing of Area-14 was isolated for decontamination, and infected Foundation personnel administered intravenous anti-parasitic compound. All received treatment within six hours of infection and made full recoveries. Infected D-Class personnel were isolated for observation so as to establish a progression of SCP-XXX infection and determine for how long it remains treatable.
Observations of subjects D-XXX-01, D-XXX-02, and D-XXX-03 form the basis of the infection's given progression above.
Subject D-XXX-04 am not sure what to say about the teenage girl.
Subject D-XXX-05 was initially believed to be uninfected, displaying no symptoms of SCP-XXX infection after three weeks. A full examination found D-XXX-05 to be pregnant; the unborn fetus was infected. The fetus, D-XXX-06, was allowed to mature. D-XXX-05 was kept unaware of its condition. Both expired when the legs of SCP-XXX penetrated D-XXX-05's uterus. D-XXX-06 is preserved, kept in cryogenic storage at Armed Bio-Containment Area-14 for study.
