Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a small, secure storage room. Any personnel attempting to use SCP-XXXX, in any way, without the proper authorization, are to be removed from the premise.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard issue elliptical exercising machine. It is approximately 3m high and 2.5m long. The brand name [REDACTED] is printed on the left side. A control panel is located at the front of the machine. The screen of the control panel has a slight crack but still functions. There is a small broken fan located beneath the control panel.
Whenever any person attempts to use SCP-XXXX to exercise, they apparently hallucinate a hostile creature in pursuit of the runner. This creature has yet to be described as all test subjects have died and all appear to be unable to respond to any outside stimuli while running. It has been theorized that the runner visualizes he is in an entirely different location with the creature, and is no longer aware of where he actually is. The existence of the creature is only known due to subjects' occasional panicked screams that "its getting closer".
Elliptical was retrieved from a small gym in the town of [DATA EXPUNGED] after two gym members fell over dead while exercising. Both died from what was reported as internal bleeding.
There have been multiple tests done on SCP-XXXX. Test subjects have only died thus far when they can no longer run, though they scream that the creature is getting closer constantly. This is not affected by subject's speed or physical prowess. Once subject can no longer run they quickly die. There does not appear to be any violence once subject stops running; they merely fall over as if passing out.
Upon inspection, subjects have severe injuries, comparable to victims of predatory attacks. Bite marks have been observed in the neck and abdominal areas, and have been observed as similar to crocodile bite marks. Multiple punctures to kidneys, lungs, heart and liver have also been observed.
Any attempts to pull subjects off the machine after they start running result in their immediate death.
