Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a 25cm x 6cm x 3cm box in Storage Locker 1-A-17 in Sector-28. Unless being used for research, the object is to be handled only by personnel with no siblings. In the event that no such personnel are available, the object may be handled by the person whose birth date is furthest from that of any of their siblings. Under no circumstances are personnel with a twin sibling allowed to handle SCP-XXXX, except for D-class under research purposes.
Addendum: As of ██/██/200█, personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX must undergo an additional background check in order to find any and all siblings of the personnel in question. See Document XXXX-01.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a █████ brand watch with the minute-hand missing. When handled by any person with a twin sibling (identical, fraternal, or conjoined), an SCP-XXXX-DT event will occur. SCP-XXXX does not affect parasitic twins.
During SCP-XXXX-DT, SCP-XXXX will manipulate events to cause the object's handler (SCP-XXXX-1) to meet with his or her twin sibling (SCP-XXXX-2). How SCP-XXXX manipulates these events has not yet been determined. Until such time as the siblings are brought together, SCP-XXXX-1 will feel unwilling to part with the object.
When the siblings are brought together, the SCP-XXXX-DT event will conclude itself with a dangerous situation. The cause of the danger varies by the location and circumstances of the meeting. For example, if the twins are in the same vehicle, there will likely be a traffic accident. If at a bank, an armed robbery may occur.
In 9█.█% of these events, SCP-XXXX-2 will be killed. In the █.█% of situations where the subject is not killed, he or she will become severely injured. SCP-XXXX-1 will remain uninjured, with the exception of two cases:
- The twins are conjoined, in which case, survivability is determined on a case-by-case basis (See Document XXXX-02)
- SCP-XXXX-1 is no longer in possession of SCP-XXXX during the conclusion of SCP-XXXX-DT. In this situation, SCP-XXXX-1's injuries will match that of SCP-XXXX-2.
SCP-XXXX-1 will inevitably develop clinical depression, and will occasionally (██.█% of the time) attempt suicide. This is thought to be the result of "survivor's guilt," and not an effect of SCP-XXXX.
Document XXXX-01: On ██/██/200█, Security Guard B████ and Researcher F██████ were transporting SCP-XXXX to its current location. Researcher F██████, against regulations, opened the box the object is stored in and picked it up to examine it. Approximately █ minutes after touching the object, B████ was killed by SCP-███, which had escaped containment shortly after F██████ had grabbed SCP-XXXX. It was later determined that Ms. B████ and Mr. F██████ were twins, and had been adopted by separate families.
Document XXXX-02: Repeated experiments shows that the incidents caused by SCP-XXXX will separate conjoined twins 100% of the time thus far. Whether the SCP-XXXX-1 survives the incident depends upon medical attention received and whether the subject was originally capable of surviving while unattached to SCP-XXXX-2.
